* Originally opening for just one day each fortnight, the programme now operates 5 evenings per week under the direction of a coordinator. From fairly small beginnings the Soup Kitchen is now in good use.
The project has never been exclusively for 'rough sleepers'. We are aware that there are many vulnerable people in our community. Some do sleep rough, others have basic bed and breakfast accommodation. Some have found hostel places and others are making tentative steps trying to care for themselves in Council housing. A free hot meal is offered to anyone who attends; regardless of his or her situation, and with no questions asked. A place of warmth, with a welcoming smile, offers visitors the chance to talk together and make new friends. Practical help such as clothing, blankets, sleeping bags, washing facilities and toiletries are on offer. With financial help from Forth Valley Health Board the Community Dental van visits once a fortnight and offers free dental treatment to our clients. Since 1999 we have been involved in the New Futures Initiative through funding from Scottish Enterprise Forth Valley.
